Biei Field Walk & Trendy Cafe
We'll receive permission from a Biei farmer to enter his fields, where a spectacular view awaits us. As we stroll, we'll take some commemorative photos before we enjoy views at a nearby viewpoint and finally, a relaxing drink at a hilltop cafe.

09:00 / 13:00 (~2.5 Hrs)
Biei is famous for its beautiful "patchwork hills" scenery. But how did this scenery come to be? And how do Biei's farmers see this incredible view? On this experience, we'll take a stroll through a working Biei field and see for ourselves the view that the farmers do.
The patchwork hill scenery comes from a farming technique known as "crop rotation". This means that Biei's farmers never plant the same crops in a field twice to prevent soil sickness. In addition to being a smart farming technique, it also creates some wonderful fields for us to explore... will you see tall, swaying stems of corn? Perhaps the bright green leaves of beans or sugar beet? If we are lucky enough to visit during the wheat season, we can take some commemorative photographs in the wheat field itself!
After we have finished exploring the field, we will head to a nearby viewpoint and then a cafe, both offering wonderful views over Biei's beautiful hills. One drink is included, but if you wish, you are welcome to try some of the sweets or snacks on offer, made fresh everyday by the barista! After we have enjoyed our drinks, we'll return to JR Biei Station.
