Farm-to-Table Lunch
With permission from a local farmer, we'll visit a very special farm for an exclusive agricultural tour. Then we'll get to taste the very produce we just saw at a local farm-to-table restaurant!

While known as a popular tourism destination, Biei is in fact a working town. Forestry and of course farming make up a large proportion of its income. The delicious produce grown here makes its way across Japan - and, in some cases, the world! The town prides itself on its fantastic fresh produce and some farmers are revolutionising farming in the area. Today, we have the privilege of visiting one such farm!
With special permission, you and your Dohoku Local will be able to enter and walk around the farmer's seasonal produce fields and greenhouses. As we explore, he will talk to us about his farming techniques, life as a farmer in Biei and why he chose to grow what we're seeing. And, if we are lucky, perhaps have a bite or two of some fresh produce! Your Dohoku Local, accompanying you, will be sure to explain what you're looking at as well as answer any burning questions you may have about farm life in Biei!
After enjoying the farm, we'll head to a popular farm-to-table restaurant that uses vegetables from the very same farm we have just visited. We'll dine on a delicious lunch which will certainly include some seasonal specialities! After we have eaten, we can take a stroll around the restaurant's pretty garden and take a few commemorative photographs before we make our way back to Biei Station.

Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements or food allergies and provide as much detail as you can. We will pass the information on to the restaurant. However, please note that they may not be able to grant every request.

The field can be muddy after rain. We will provide rain boots if this is the case, so please let us know your shoe sizes in centimetres if asked.

Please do not smoke or litter in the fields.

Parents must hold young children's hands at all times while in the field.

There are no toilets or places to sit at the farm. Please use the facilities at JR Biei Station before we depart.

We can provide you with rental sun hats and rain ponchos if you do not have your own,

This experience will take place in all weathers (except thunderstorms, typhoons or other dangerous weather conditions - please see T&Cs).

We know, it's boring.
But if you'd like to join an experience, there are some particulars.
We appreciate your taking the time to read this before booking!
1. The minimum age for this experience is 16 years. However, if your child is between 12 ~ 15 and with a profound interest in agriculture, we can make an exception. 2. We have permission to enter the farmer's field, but not any surrounding property that does not belong to him. Please follow your Dohoku Local's instruction and do not trespass in any areas we are not allowed to enter. 3. Bookings are accepted a minimum of 1 week in advance. Unfortunately we cannot accept bookings later than this due to the restaurant's popularity. 4. If the restaurant is unavailable for your dates (e.g. fully booked, temporary closure etc) then you will be offered alternate dates, an alternate choice of tour or the chance to visit the farm without lunch (discount will apply). 5. Please let us know if you have any health or mobility issues that may affect you on this experience. 6. Aggressive or threatening behaviour towards your Dohoku Local or Biei townspeople will not be tolerated. 7. The participant accepts that they bear responsibility for any accident or injury, except for those caused by negligence or poor behaviour on the part of their Dohoku Local. 8. We reserve the right to cancel the reservation on the spot with no refund given if any of the T&C are breached. 9. Cancellation Policy: Full refund if cancelled by you, the participant, more than 24 hours before the experience. 100% cancellation fee if cancelled within 24 hours of the experience. Unfortunately we do not accept illness or injury as mitigating circumstances. If we have to cancel the experience due to unforeseen circumstances on Dohoku Local's end (e.g. extreme weather), a full refund will be given.
